Swindon Circus Conversations
Talks and discussions about circus and outdoor arts

Deadline for applications for this has now passed.

What is it?

We wanted to host a gathering of people who are interested in bringing circus and outdoor arts events to areas that don't get enough, so that's what this event is about.

We want to explore how event producers can bridge the gap between artists and audiences, especially those audiences who face barriers to connecting with the arts.

It's FREE to attend - Come eat tasty food and have great conversations with us!

Topics explored are not limited to but will include:

  • Relationships with local community and their connection to booking process

  • Different barriers faced by people accessing the arts

  • How can we engage people not already involved in arts?

  • Funding

  • What to book and why?!

Who's this for?

We welcome anyone who is interested in producing events and projects in areas where there are, or have been, fewer opportunities to engage in the arts, from all ranges of experience and across the UK.

When and where?

23rd - 24th January 2024 at Lower Shaw Farm, Swindon.

  • It's free to attend! - No secret costs!

  • Home cooked food from Lower Shaw Farm and cosy accommodation will be provided (free of charge)

  • We will have 4 speakers, followed by discussions

  • Starts early afternoon on 23rd. Ends evening of 24th

  • Space for mini sessions led by participants if wanted

  • Evening sauna, campfire, and good times

  • There are bursary places for 3 people who will receive £150 to attend, who would not be able to come otherwise

    • *Update 13th Dec*

      • We already have lots more applicants who have selected the bursary place than we can provide. Feel free to still apply for these places and we will be in touch with more info.

If you have any concerns about access, please email to chat things through. We will do the best we can to accomodate everyone's needs.

We would love a wide range of people at this conference to try and bring perspectives from lots of backgrounds and experiences, particurlarly applicants from the global majority.

Priority will be given to those that can attend the full gathering.

Application deadline: 24th December

Monitoring form :

It would be great for us if you could also fill out our monitoring form along with the application form. (It's only 4 questions and could really help us!)
